How to Style a Wig-8 Perfect Styles for Long Wigs
Wigs are extremely diverse, and you can find wigs in any shape you desire. But there will come a time when we will have to style our own wigs, so do you know how to style a wig? Long wigs are not only more versatile to style than short wigs, but they also help keep you warm during the colder months. Today, we'll use the long wigs that most people own as an example to give you some new ideas for your look.
When it comes to styling a long wig, there is no right or wrong way; what matters is that you are happy with the look and feel good about it. Whether you have a long human hair wig or a long synthetic wig, you can find long wig styling inspiration here.
8 Perfect Long Wig Styles
1. Braids
Braids are one of our favorite ways to style a long wig! Most people think of braids when they want to style their hair in a classic braid, a fishtail braid, a French braid, or a Dutch braid. Depending on the look you want, braid it to the back of your neck or to the side.
To achieve a more casual and natural look, pull the braid a little looser, giving your overall look a more casual and lazy appearance. Braids not only make you look more stylish and beautiful, but they also help to keep long hair in place.
2. Ponytails
A high and low ponytail is an excellent way to style long wigs and create a glamorous look. Ponytails are not only simple but also versatile, as they can be worn casually or dressed up with a headband or bobby pin. To create a sleek high ponytail, secure your wig or place it on a wig stand and brush your hair toward the crown of the wig with a hairbrush. For low ponytails, gently move the hair into the ponytail with your fingers or a comb. To avoid damaging the wig when removing the ponytail, do not tie the hair too tightly. We recommend leaving a few strands of hair loose in front of the face for a natural look. Wig hairspray is the best way to finish the look, especially if you have any loose baby hairs.
3. Curls without using heat
Styling long wigs without heat will not only keep your wig in excellent condition for a long time, but there are numerous ways to achieve gorgeous heat-free curls. Curved rollers, braids, headbands, and donut buns make it simple to achieve heatless curly wigs.
If you're short on time in the morning but want bouncy curls, check out our long curly wigs, which will keep your wig styled and ready to go. Beach wave long wigs are also suitable for a more casual look.
4. Hair bun
Long wigs that can be worn in a low or high bun are excellent choices. A bun is ideal for windy days when you want to maintain a sleek appearance. Buns are also versatile, transitioning from casual to formal dressing, and a low bun is a great option whether you're at home or at work.
If you're not sure how to make a bun, the donut bun technique is an easy way to get a perfect bun. All you need is a hairbrush, a donut, and an elastic band to get started!
5. Straight hair
If you have a long human hair wig, you can safely style it with a straightener and a heat protectant spray. Unfortunately, long synthetic wig fibers cannot withstand heat, but if you prefer a synthetic wig to a human hair wig, look for a heat resistant synthetic wig. If you like the straight look but are hesitant to use a straightener, a long straight wig is your best option.
6. Half-up, half-down hairstyle
The half-up, half-down look is a lovely way to wear a long wig. The half-up, half-down style is a great casual look that can be accessorized with bobby pins; it's also one of our favorite looks for any occasion.
It may be easier to achieve this look while wearing a wig, but it all depends on your comfort level. First, make sure your wig is well-brushed. Next, put one finger on each side of your brow and run your hand through your hair toward the top of your head to create a half-ponytail. Now, secure the half-ponytail with an elastic band or foam and style the other half as desired.
7. Bangs
Did you know your wig can be removed? If you have a long wig and want a more permanent change, you can have it cut and styled by a professional hairdresser. You can add layers, change the length, or cut bangs for a new look. Please keep in mind that wigs do not grow out.
long wigs with bangs are fashionable, and you can choose between full bangs and side bangs. Long wigs with bangs complement your face shape and add a new dimension to your look. If this is your first time looking at a long wig, why not consider one that already has bangs? A wig with bangs conceals the wig's hairline and can make the wig appear more natural.
8. Hats
Hats and headpieces are useful when you want to wear a long wig but don't know how to style it. Furthermore, hats are a great way to accessorize any outfit while also keeping you warm in the colder months!
Do I need to dry my wig for styling?
Check that your wig is dry. If you washed your wig before styling it, make sure to let it air dry completely before attempting to style it. Wet wig styling may cause the hair fibers to become brittle or damaged - this is not going to happen!
What to prepare before styling?
Brush your wig gently before styling it to remove any nasty knots or tangles. We recommend carrying a wig brush or comb with you when you go out and about if you brush your long wig hair; it comes in handy on windy days.
